I thought I was just experimenting with fluoro ora I thought I was just experimenting with fluoro orange ... but then this sketchbook experiment ended up looking like the skies we experienced in Ontario and now on the Westcoast in BC, due to the massive forest fires ravaging hundreds and thousands of square kilometres 💔💔💔And it's not just Canada and North America; forest fires are raging across Europe due to unprecedented, extreme high heat as well.If the loss of life isn't enough of a cause for concern for the billionaires, perhaps the loss of income is. From the World Economic Forum:"Extreme heat is not only a health and environmental risk – it is increasingly taking a toll on workers and the wider economy. The International Labour Organization estimates that more than 2.4 billion workers globally are exposed to excessive heat, with around 22.85 million occupational injuries attributable to it each year. By 2030, heat stress is projected to reduce total working hours worldwide by 2.2%, equivalent to 80 million full-time jobs and $2.4 trillion in economic losses."#forestfire #extremeheat #climatecatastrophe #climatechangeart #stoptaxpayerfundedpipelines

Late last month, I tagged along with my mom to attend a 'Tenkoku' (篆刻 - てんこく) workshop facilitated by her calligraphy teacher, Maeda Noriko Sensei @norikomaedacalligraphySeeing that Maeda Sensei has a multi-year waitlist for her classes, I feel lucky to have been able to skip the queue and join in carving my own name stamp! In fact this is ny third time carving a tenkoku stamp and this time I really challenged myself and carved an ancient version (with a variation) of the 'hashi' character of my last name!My stamp is just 1cm x 1cm and the most intricate carving I've done yet!I've used my previous stamps for some of my watercolour paintings, so I'm excited to stamp my upcoming paintings with this new tenkoku!Sensei!! Thank you so much for sharing you incredible knowledge, creative ideas and your guidance. You are incredible!!
Do you use matcha bowls (or matcha-chawan #抹茶ちゃわん ) to make your matcha drink? Here I painted some #cosmiccells onto a #matcha bowl my sister (@lokurostudio) made and bisque fired.
Sister collabs are the best!Whisking matcha in a Sister collabs are the best!Whisking matcha in a bowl, hand-thrown and fired by my sister (@lokurostudio) and then painted by myself makes the whole ritual even more special ☺️I painted my #CosmicCells on this bowl, bringing together my hope for a gradual societal change for the better, one
tiny cell at a time 🔬#matchagirlie #cosmiccels #matchabowl #handpainted
