Do you love たい焼き (taiyaki)? It's an almost Do you love たい焼き (taiyaki)? It's an almost perfect dessert but I never knew why it was in the shape of a fish (other than being cute) so I looked into it 🐟This painting was part of the @japanesecanadianculturalcentre's Friendship & Culture show that closed at the end of May.While it didn't sell at the show, it might be going to a new home soon!....
Trying a new reel format! Voice overs are hard! Scripting is hard too! And then to create (in my case very basic) graphics to further illustrate points. No wonder influencers have editors to help them create videos - cuz this is a looooooot of work! But what do you think? Would love to know your thoughts on this reel 💜#たい焼き #水彩画 #taiyaki #watercolourart #torontoartist
I've been obsessed with Habitat 67 for a while. I I've been obsessed with Habitat 67 for a while. I created this first graphic back in 2006 in Illustrator, based on a photo that I took with my Lomo-Kompakt automat. This graphic was used for years as a place-holder for my portfolio site: hyedie.com.I even used my Habitat 67 photos for a silk screening class I took at Open Studio at the @401richmond way back when! All the photos with the raw edges (film borders) were taken in 2004 on my first trip to Montreal with my Lomo camera. The last set of photos are from my most recent trip to Montreal on tour (and inside the building!) with @habitat67montreal. Thanks again Denise for the reco! I learned so much about Habitat 67 and the Montreal Expo!OH! and the video of the river? If you looks closely there is a surfer, surfing in place in the Lachine Rapids right behind Habitat 67!#lomokompaktautomat

The Friendship Through Culture show @japanesecanad The Friendship Through Culture show @japanesecanadianculturalcentre is now over and this painting went to a lovely home!I painted this Matcha Vanilla Twist (a taiyaki and some strawberry chocolates as well) specificallyfor the theme of this show because the fastest way to a person's heart is through their stomach. And I find that a person's introduction to new cultures is usually through food.I wanted to paint food that people love that are identifiably Japanese but use ingredients that aren't traditionally Japanese, exemplifying how culture evolves from different external influences as well 💜While this original painting is not available anymore, the scan is available as a print! (And can be printed larger than the original!)You can order here (link also in bio): https://hyedie.myshopify.com/#matchagirlie #抹茶アイス #水彩画 #watercolourart #arttimelapse
