When I was working on pieces for my Parched Flora show, I recorded myself created one of the finished pieces.
It took me 2 years but I compiled the footage to create a time lapse video of myself drawing and painting!

Photos from In the Round
Although I couldn’t attend the opening reception of ‘In the Round’, I did check out the show when I returned to Toronto. There were so many different styles, ideas and uses, however, most people created a 3 piece series with their birch rounds.

In the Round – Group Show
I created 3 new pieces for a group show at Graven Feather. We were given 3 birch rounds to create whatever we wanted with. So I wanted to explore my Parched Flora series on vellum and mounted my vellum paintings onto wood. Working with vellum was a very different experience compared to the regular watercolour paper that I usually use. And despite some struggles with getting used to the texture, I’m quite happy with the results!
Unfortunately I won’t be in town for the opening reception on November 6th 7-10 pm 2014, but I can’t wait to see the other artists’ round artwork when I return. Hope you can check out the show, too!
The show is on from November 6 – 29th, 2014.

Farewell my Muse(s)
Now that my show is up, I’m finally saying good-bye to my real life parched flora friends. Some of these flowers stayed on my desk for more than 5 years! Even though these dried flowers have joined the great circle of compost life, my desk is still a mess. It’s something that I’m just going to have to accept … and it’s something I’ll be ok with, soon-ish.
I’m so excited to announce my new show: Parched Flora
It will be on for the month of February 2014 at the Northern District Library in the 2nd floor atrium area.
The show is available for viewing anytime the library is open:
Monday-Friday: 9:00 am – 8:30 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday: 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm
I will be hosting a reception close to the end of my show. If you find yourself in the Yonge & Eglinton area, please come by and say hi!
